Superb gig on Saturday you guys were on fire! Special thanks to Mr. Williams who did a sterling job. Racing Cars had a hard act to follow. Regarding the Diamond gig. . . . . . . . . the press reports are in, the posters are distributed and the beers are on ice. All it needs now is for you to have a safe journey and enjoy the night 'ere up North among more friends. Only one question remains after 30 years. What kept you?

Message:    Hi.  You guys were amazing on Sat 28th at Pontardawe Arts Centre (where I work). People have been calling into the Box Office and asking "Who was that Band who were on before Racing Cars - they were far better!"  Hope you add more gigs soon - you are the talk of Pontardawe!  Go Richie!   Regards Pam x

I bought this wax doll and some silver pins from a Voodoo shop in Porth yesterday. Dont know if it will work or if it's all just mumbo jumbo. Anyway if Gary starts complaining of stabbing pains in his arms and legs when he gets back and cant make the gigs you know how to reach me.

It was an honour and a privelage. Have a good weekend up North.

My best to all.

Take care and Budgieregards.

Hello Guys,

I've just listened to Expecting Company on glorious vinyl, I think that I bought the album in 1974 or 5 after seeing you play at Clarences club in Halifax, do you remember that venue, I'm originally from Halifax and saw you play there 3 or 4 times, it was a great venue.

I've lived in Newcastle-upon-Tyne since 1976 and although I check your gigs fairly regularly you don't seem to venture north very often, is there any chance of getting up here?

A good venue would be The Cluny.I saw Wishbone Ash there a couple of weeks ago and the place was packed so there is an audience up here for your kind of music. There email address is   cluny@theheadofsteam.co.uk

It's a great place check out the website

It would be great to see you play again after all these years,

All the best

Glyn

This may stretch the memories of a few of the band!  Whilst working through Witch Promotions in Hereford I worked (As a DJ) with them at Wellington Village Hall and RAF Credenhill (Hereford).  Also drove the aformentioned Norman Rose down to Rockfield one evening for a recording session.  Must try and get to see the band again.

Followed you guys all the way to Plymouth in the mid 70's from Poole in Dorset. Still can't remember the venue (nearlyn got arrested) Someone said you were good......total understatement.....you lot were hot.....twin leads.....solid bass and drums and even a wink of the eye from Dia.....Oh, and I can just say that TB's use of vocal and tamborine must have had some impact .....I love the idea that you are gigging again. Please send me info.....love to all

Great site! As a native of Liverpool (with Welsh parents) I remember fantastic nights(even through the haze of various substances) at Liverpool Polytechnic students union in the early 70's when you were performing. Along with Budgie the best band to come out of Wales. Diolch yn fawr!!!!!

Great to come across your site, and play through those video clips. The band used to come to Trity College, Carmarthen when I was there in the early 70's and you were superb. Dai Shell is directly responsible for me being so inspired as to blow my entire college grant (yes, we used to have grants in those days, not loans!) on a Les Paul, only a copy mind. Grants weren't that big. My dad went apeshit - well, a bit -annoyed anyway Wink.

All the best ......and thanks for everything.

www.americana-international.co.uk and www.thediamonduk.com will take you to the relevant sites where you can make contact for venue and ticket information for Sassafras's gigs in July. There is increasing interest at both venues and considering the Diamond is Friday and Americana the following day Saturday it should be a cracking weekend for all Sassafans!!

Looking forward to seeing the band again after 33 years at the Diamond !. I have a tape of them recorded live at The Grey Topper, Jacksdale Notts '74/'75 from Radio Trent FM as it was known back then. Unluckily I now have no tape player now so have not listened to it for about 5 years. It was seeing these gigs & acquiring the tape from a mate that was instrumental in shaping the way I play guitar today. Dai used a wine coloured Les Paul into a Marshall back then. Great sound, great tone but most of all great feeling, especially with the wah-wah. I remember playing to the tape for years trying to figure out what he was doing. I hope they do the songs I remember, I'm sure they will, how could they not, great songs are great songs whenever you hear them.
