Gary Davies is originally from Merthyr Tydfil a town synonymous with the industrial revolution of the 1800's and the pop revolution of the 1960's. The Man Band had their origins in the town evolving from the Bystanders who by Welsh standards of the time were right on top of their game with a recording contract a diary full of work a roadie and a strobe machine.
After playing in a few school type bands Gary graduated to Merthyr's little league teaming up with Dai Shell in a band called Chapter 5.
Gary's has the intriguing nick name of Shag and the origins of this nickname are shrouded in secrecy mythology and antiquity, the best way is to ask him, he might tell you?
Gary has played the drums in all manner of bands covering all imaginable styles of music from Uriah Heep covers to rock n roll country Flying Saucers usa, jazz and funk are where he is very partial to the groove.
He spent many years in the company of Owen Money in a comedy showband of which he has many hilarious tails to tell. Laugherty, The Bridge and The Freak Show to name but a few.
Gary and Ray J have been playing as a rhythm section for the last 16 years having accidentally hooked up in a fun comedy band called Stitches. Several campaign's later here we are in Sassafras.

Gary uses Mapex, Rogers USA and Roland kits. Is very fond Indian cuisine, holidays and quality high speed motoring. Gary has been know to say "on my life" on more than 1 occasion
